The Easter Result
As a result of Easter, the path to victory is now wide open and can be experienced by you and me. Consequently, a song begins in heaven reflecting this.
Revelation 5:9-11 – “9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” 11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands,”
John sees every creature in heaven and on earth—not only God’s people but also all animals and every living thing—celebrating and worshipping together before the throne of God.
This very presence is available to us today. We all need to spend time experiencing it. Because of Easter, we can rise above our earthly lives, including the busyness, worries, troubles, and cares, and join in this place of worship.
What Is the Hope of Easter?
The major battles and wars described in the middle of the book of Revelation lead to the great victory of the Lamb over Babylon, which represents the world’s system. Then, in the last two chapters of Revelation, we are presented with a vision of the new city that replaces the wicked and evil city we know today as the fallen world.
This is the Easter vision – a world reborn, a new creation, and a new Kingdom. All of this began 2,000 years ago. Although it is destined for future fulfilment, we are empowered to bring it into the here and now.
Revelation 21:1-5 – “1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away. 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
The truth of Easter is that God’s Kingdom has come, and in the fullness of time, it will appear in its entirety right here on this earth. New heavens and a new earth come together in an amazing way. This is the world’s destiny – it is where it ultimately ends up, and it is all because of Easter.
The wrath of the Lamb – which Scripture often talks about – is the anger of Jesus, the Lion of Judah, toward all that harms and damages His beloved people and the world He created for them. The love of Jesus for His people undergirds this entire vision.
Today, He calls us to follow Him into a dark world—one that is filled with sin, corruption, pain, suffering, and gross injustices. He both expects and empowers us to take the message of Easter and the song of Revelation as a light into this fallen world.
Isaiah 60:1-3 – “1 Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. 2 For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. 3 Nations will come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.”
The Good News is that Jesus has brought an entirely new life to the world through the Easter experience. Let’s take this with us wherever we go.
God bless you.
